Tina Gregoric, Member of the Brick Award 22 Jury
Tina Gregoric was born in Slovenia, where she graduated at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Ljubljana. In 2002 she concluded her postgraduate studies at the Architectural Association in London with distinction. She is co-author of the book Negotiate my boundary! - Mass-Customization and Responsive Environments, addressing topics of new collectivity, sharing and participation.
In 2003 Tina established Dekleva Gregorič Architects in Ljubljana together with her partner Aljoša Dekleva. Through diverse projects, scales, programs, climates and localities they explore specific conditions of the context to define the ultimate generative tool aiming to challenge the obvious, while pursuing the concepts of ‘research by design’ and ‘design by research’. Their work spans from affordable housing to university campus and Venice Biennale pavilion and reflects their approach to thinking and making architecture, underlining its social position, material manifestation and architectural legacy.
Their projects have received numerous international awards including Architectural Review House Award, Architizer and WALLPAPER* award, among others and several nominations for the Mies van der Rohe Award. Alongside their practice Aljoša and Tina lead a distinctive design research on nanotourism, a participatory, locally oriented, responsible alternative to over-tourism.
Tina has taught at number of schools of architecture, including the Architectural Association in London, Graz University of Technology and the University of Toronto. From 2014 she is Professor of Architecture and Head of Department of Architectural Typology and Design at Vienna University of Technology.
