The InsighTours, launched by Guiding Architects and wienerberger, focus on buildings nominated for the Brick Award, an international award that presents outstanding brick architecture from all around the world. wienerberger initiated the bi-annual, independent Brick Award in 2004. Over the last years, projects have been submitted from all over the world and nominations as well as winners have been chosen using a wide range of manufacturers and brick types in all colours and shapes. A pre-jury selects the nominees, before an international jury of renowned architects, who change with every award, selects the Category winners and the Grand Prize winner.

Théâtre de Carouge
Geneva, Switzerland
The Carouge Theater blends seamlessly into the dense urban fabric of this district south of Geneva. Designed by Pont 12 Architectes in 2021, it meets the theater’s functional requirements while optimizing the limited space of the site.
The building is organized around five main entities: three performance halls, the renovated Salle des Fêtes, and the esplanade. Circulation has been carefully designed to connect these spaces smoothly. The public foyer opens widely onto the esplanade, while at the rear, the assembly hall creates an interior courtyard bringing together the stages and set workshops. The Salle des Fêtes, restored with respect for its Brutalist architecture, maintains its connection to the esplanade and benefits from an improved interior layout.
The building's envelope, sculpted to fit the imposed volumes as closely as possible, stands out through a subtle play of staggered masses. The absence of expansion joints in the brick cladding gives the structure a unique monolithic presence. The choice of elongated beige bricks with a raw texture allows for subtle interactions with light, the city, and the surrounding vegetation, reinforcing its urban integration.
