Online Submission

Participation is free of charge.
Submissions are made via an online form requiring basic project data, a short description of the project, plus images and plans.
By submitting, participants consent to the publication of submitted materials at a later stage.

Assessment Criteria

Projects incorporating any form of brick or clay product, including bricks, clay blocks, panels, slips, pavers and roof tiles, are welcome.

  • Project must have been completed in 2024, 2025,2026 or before 2027.
  • A strong and innovative design and architectural concept
  • Skillful use of bricks or clay products, including bricks, clay blocks, clay panels, brick slips, pavers and roof tiles
  • High architectural quality in terms of aesthetics, form and overall composition


We welcome submissions that demonstrate innovative concepts with a strong focus on sustainability and affordability. The jury will give particular consideration to projects that address the following:

  • Integration of energy-efficient solutions to reduce environmental impact and energy consumption.
  • Circular use of materials.
  • Sustainable approaches to resource use and waste reduction, including effective water management.
  • Promoting recycling and material reuse.

Award Criteria

Criteria for participation

  • A significant part of the project must consist of clay building materials, including clay blocks, facing bricks, clay pavers, clay roof tiles or clay façade panels. Projects focused on roof tiles, pavers, for example landscaping, or façade panels are also eligible.
  • The project must clearly fit within one of the five nomination categories.
  • The project may include newly constructed, refurbished or converted buildings.
  • Both new and reused materials are eligible, including bricks, roof tiles, façade panels, pavers, clay blocks and brick slips.
  • Particular attention will be given to innovative building concepts and to how the project combines, in line with its intended purpose, sustainability, climate resilience, functionality, energy efficiency and affordability.
  • The project will be assessed on its suitability and effectiveness in relation to its intended purpose.
  • Projects must have been completed in 2024 or later.
  • The use of wienerberger products is not a requirement and does not influence eligibility.

Award Prize

International recognition for architectural excellence

The BRICK AWARD celebrates architectural excellence on an international stage.

The Grand Prize winner will receive €7,000 in prize money, while each of the four category winners will be awarded €5,000.
 
Winners are officially announced at the biennial BRICK AWARD Ceremony in Vienna, where the global architecture community comes together to recognize outstanding achievement in brick architecture.

All nominated architects are invited to attend the ceremony and their projects are showcased alongside the winning entries in the BRICK Book and across the BRICK AWARD’s digital and social media channels, providing international visibility and recognition.
