Helena Glantz was born in Sweden where she also completed her post-graduate studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 1998. After working in various architectural bureaus in Sweden for 13 years, she started her own bureau in 2001 as founding partner and CEO of UD Urban Design AB.
When she and her partner started their office, the concept of urban design was not yet common in Sweden. Her work focuses on the connotation of “design in relation to urbanity”. Through the exploration of cities and their inhabitants’ connection to technical support systems, Urban Design was able to create a broad collection of work ranging from offices, housing and brand identity to the design of technical facilities.
Besides receiving a Wienerberger Brick Award 2018 in the category Building Outside the Box for Värtan Bioenergy CHP-plant, Helena Glantz and her team have been awarded and shortlisted for several other awards such as the Mipim Award or the American Architecture Prize.
